The Abu Dhabi 3X3 Community Basketball Championship Begins on Saturday
Quest 1 of the Abu Dhabi 3X3 Community Basketball Championship begins on Saturday, 6 July. The event will be held at the Abu Dhabi Summer Sports Centre at ADNEC every weekend until 28 July, with the participation of more than 60 teams (Male – Female) competing for a total prize pool of AED 72,000 in cash.
The tournament comes as a result of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council’s keenness to provide an opportunity for all basketball fans in the Emirate, citizens and residents alike, to participate in their favourite sport. Registration will be open for everyone to sign-up for the tournament’s four stages, all of which will be held before the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Abu Dhabi Masters, which runs from 26-27 October.
Talal Al Hashemi, Executive Director of the Events Sector at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, emphasised the importance of organising a community tournament to provide the opportunity for everyone to participate and compete for valuable prizes, indicating that the Abu Dhabi Sports Council is keen to reap the benefits from these community tournaments held on the sidelines of the international championships Abu Dhabi hosts throughout the year. One such benefit is encouraging all members of society to practice sports activities and improve their level of physical fitness.
Al Hashemi said: “We welcome all teams registered in the tournament, which aims to be an active and healthy community sports forum in a place full of vitality and activity, and we wish all partners, organisers and participants good luck and success.”
